Welcome to Jane Austen Info. This is a site I set up for fun as a Jane Austen fan, or a Janeite you

could say.

 

I first read Jane Austen at college, Northanger Abbey, and I did not like it at all! I think when you

are being made to read something and analyse it, it drains the fun out of it. Then a year later I was

introduced to the 1995 BBC version of Pride and Prejudice and fell in love with the world of Jane

Austen (not because of Colin Firth!). I went on to read Pride and Prejudice, then all of her other

novels, and even went back to Northanger Abbey. Having accustomed to the language and setting

of Jane Austen's world I fell in love with all of them.

 

I now have an entire shelf dedicated to Jane Austen's novels, and books about Jane and her

world. I have also attended a course on Jane Austen and visited the Jane Austen Centre in Bath.

It is one of my dreams to take a tour of the south to see her house at Chawton, sites that

feature in her novels such as Lyme and other places she lived or had visited.

 

I created this site to share knowledge with others who are also passionate about Jane Austen

and want to find out a bit more. 

 

It's early days so bare with me. I will be adding more and more content as time goes on and my knowledge expands, but if you have any suggestions, have seen a news story about Jane Austen or if there's anything you would like further information on, please contact me.
